What are Reciprocal Kiddushin/Kiddushin Hadadiot?

Excerpt from the Reciprocal Kiddushin Ketuba (A revision by Rabba Nechama of Rabbi Amitai Adler’s Brit Ahuvim)…

קידושין אלה הן קידושין הדדיות, חוזה הדדי בין הכלה לחתן לשם הבעת אהבה וקדושה כברית נשואין של הבורא יתברך וציון. במקרה, ח״ו, וירצו או יצטרכו החתן והכלה לבטל שותפות זו, היא תיבטל או על ידי הסכמה בין שניהם בשטר ובחתימת ידיהם וידי שני עדים כשרים, בפני בית דין צדק, או, על ידי הצהרת רצונו של אחד מהם, בשטר ובחתימת ידו/ידה וידי שני עדים כשרים, בפני בית דין צדק. בשני המקרים הללו זה יהווה את גט כריתות וקידושין הדדיות האלה ייחשבו כעוקרות ומבוטלות מבחינה הלכתית.

These kiddushin are reciprocal kiddushin, a mutual contract between the bride and the groom for the sake of expressing love and holiness as a marriage covenant of the Blessed Creator and Zion. In the event, chas ve shalom, that the bride and groom wish or need to cancel this partnership, it will be canceled either by agreement between the two of them with a bill of agreement signed by them and by two kosher witnesses, before a righteous Beth Din, or, by declaring the will of one of them, in a bill signed by him/her and by two kosher witnesses, before a righteous Beth Din. In both cases this will form and constitute the Gett Kritut and these reciprocal Kiddushin will be considered uprooted and halahkically revoked.
